HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Sessions are typically 45-50Â minutes long with time allocated at the end of each session to discuss any next steps. So in total it is best to set aside an hour from start to finish.
DOES EVERYTHING WE TALK ABOUT STAY BETWEEN US?
Broadly speaking, yes. However there are times when this cannot be the case. Examples of this would be as follows:
If you were a danger to yourself
If you had plans to intentionally hurt another person(s)
If there was a danger that you would be at risk of serious harm from another person(s)

I would always try to avoid breaching confidentiality and work with you to find solutions to this, but there are times when this is unavoidable due to the examples stated above and I have a legal duty to act on this if needed.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE MY APPOINTMENT?
Sometimes things happen which can't be avoided and as such we have to make changes. I will always do my best to be as understanding as possible. Please see my cancellation policy under the cancellations section.
I'M NOT 18 YET. WILL YOU TELL MY PARENTS OR CAREGIVERS WHAT WE TALK ABOUT?
Wherever possible I will work with you yo keep things confidential. However, sometimes this cannot be the case. Examples of this would be:
If you were a danger to yourself
If you had plans to intentionally hurt another person(s)
If there was a danger that you would be at risk of serious harm from another person(s)
This is also the same for adults.
If it was felt that anything needed to be shared with your parent(s)/caregiver(s) then I would be honest and inform you of this and the reasons why. We can then work together to find a way forward.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE FIRST SESSION?
During the first session we will explore the reason(s) that have brought to therapy. I will work with you to understand things as you experience them. The initial consultation will be completed as part of this session and I will work to keep this as fluid and informal as possible.
